Leica - M EV1 Mirrorless Camera Features:
- The M EV1 features an electronic viewfinder, which is the first of its kind in an M-system camera body. The electronic viewfinder features a 5.66m dot resolution and is designed to provide a magnified view of the image.
- The electronic viewfinder is designed to provide a precise view of the sensor's data. It can also help you focus properly and quickly using fast Noctilux and Summilux lenses.
- One of the main advantages of the EVF is its ability to work with various focal lengths, which is not the case with the M rangefinder cameras. The various restrictions that are typically associated with using a rangefinder focusing system have been removed, allowing you to use different types of lenses.
- The Digital Zoom feature can be previewed in the electronic viewfinder with a 1.3x or 1.8x frame burst.
- The EVF helps users with various tools to get sharp focus using different lenses. One of these is Focus Peaking, which highlights areas of focus that are in focus and in bright colors.
- With Focus Aid/Magnification, users can use two magnification steps to magnify details in their photos. With the help of the FN button, users can manually activate Focus Peaking or set it to automatically turn on when the lens is turned.
- The former frame selection lever has been replaced by an EVF button, which provides users with a convenient way to switch between digital zoom and focusing aids. The button can be pressed long enough to assign a function or short enough to flip it off.
- A real-time exposure preview shows the changes in the depth of field and exposure information before an exposure is taken. Exposure and shooting data are displayed within the EVF, and this information is relegated to the bottom portion of the frame.
- This provides users with an optimal and full-frame image.
- The M EV1 is a smartphone that features the same 60MP sensor as the M11 series, and it comes with a BSI design for fast readout speeds and better noise performance. The higher resolution of the M EV1's sensor makes it ideal for applications that require detailed details, such as architectural and landscape photography.
- Its BSI design also helps reduce noise and improve color accuracy when shooting in low-light conditions. Its physical design includes a dual-layer filter glass that's ultra-thin and absorbs IR and UV light for enhanced clarity.
- Through the unique pixel binning process, users can select the 60, 36, or 18MP outputs, which utilize the full sensor area for rich 14-bit color. Instead of cropping, pixel binning enabled users to get the best dynamic range and noise reduction.
- The M EV1's processor, the Maestro III, helps boost the device's speed and triple resolution technology. It also enables users to get a wider sensitivity range, allowing them to capture more detailed and natural images.
- It can shoot at up to 4.5 frames per second and has a built-in fast file saving feature. The M EV1's electronic shutter feature allows users to shoot at a speed of up to 1/16,000 sec.
- This feature is useful when using faster f/0.95 lenses, as it does not require an ND filter. Besides the usual exposure modes, the M EV1 also comes with multi-field exposure metering.
- This feature helps users reduce the need to manually adjust the settings. The two digital zoom steps can be used to simulate working with a longer lens.
- They can be used to crop an image at 1.3x and 1.8x, and these are reversible crops. Noise reduction with long exposure can be disabled to speed up saving time.
- In collaboration with other companies such as The New York Times and Leica, Adobe has launched the CAI, which seeks to establish a standard that will help ensure the authenticity of digital content. The M EV1 supports this technology by incorporating a secure processing chip that will encrypt the metadata of images at the capture stage.
- This ensures that the content is authentic and can be independently verified. This helps give users more confidence when it comes to viewing and using images.
- The M EV1's rear 2.95-inch LCD is brighter for clearer images in sunny conditions. Its new diamond-patterned leatherette body also features a clean and streamlined design.
- Its menu layout is designed to make it easier to navigate through the various settings. The M EV1 features a built-in live view stabilization that helps minimize the appearance of shake.
- This also makes it easier to focus on longer lenses with better accuracy. The M EV1 is also lighter than its predecessor due to its electronic viewfinder.
- It weighs 1.1 lb., which is less than the M11 P. Unlike the other models of its kind, it doesn't have a removable baseplate.
- Instead, it utilizes a BP-SCL7 lithium-ion battery inside its body. The M EV1's lithium-ion battery is rated at 240 shots per charge when using the EVF and 244 shots per charge when using the LCD.
- In addition, it features a single SD card slot inside its battery compartment. This means that you can use the internal memory of the device to store additional files or split them into different categories.
- The M EV1 also supports image file transfer from its internal memory to an SD card for easy backup. Its USB-C port allows users to charge the device's battery and transfer files.
- The included FOTOS cable can also be used with the USB-C port to connect an Apple iPhone to the device. This feature makes it easy to manage and share photos using the app of the German manufacturer.
- Connectivity via Bluetooth and Wi-Fi can be established to connect the camera to an iOS device through the FOTOS app. The app allows users to geotagging their photos and apply ratings to them. It also lets them select their favorites.
