The Leica Q2 Monochrom is a compact full-frame camera that's ideal for capturing images in black and white. This model features the same design elements as the standard Q2, but it adds a 47.3MP image in a non-colored filter. This eliminates the need for a low-pass or color filter and provides even better detail and image quality. Besides its unique imaging characteristics, the Q2 Monochrom also comes with a sleek and white exterior design. Grey and white engravings can be found on the body and the top plate.

The Q2 Monochrom features a unique imaging system that combines a 47.3MP B&W sensor with the Maestro II image processor. This combination delivers a wide dynamic range and exceptional sensitivity to capture images in various lighting conditions. The design features a microlens array that's updated to provide better image quality and increased resolution. It also omits a low-pass filter to achieve even better detail and clarity. In addition, the camera doesn't have a color filter array, which allows it to capture images with only a single color value.

The B&W sensor and the image processor allows it to achieve a higher sensitivity range of ISO 100- 100,000 and a wider dynamic range than the previous generation's model. It also features a reduced noise level to capture images in challenging lighting conditions. The powerful processor can provide up to 10 fps in full-resolution using a mechanical shutter, and it also includes an exceptionally fast autofocus system. Its built-in digital zoom lets users create 30MP images using a 35mm field of view, 15MP images with a 50mm field of view, and 7MP with a 75mm field of view. Besides stills, the Q2 also supports various video recording formats, such as DCI 4K24p and UHD 4K30p, and can has high-speed recording engine that can handle up to 120p.

The Q-series' popularity is attributed to the inclusion of a fixed Summilux 28mm f/1.7 wide-angle prime lens. This lens combines the latest optical know-how with a design that's perfectly matched to the B&W sensor. It features three aspherical elements to deliver accurate, sharp rendering as well as control distortion.

The fast f/1.7 maximum lens can handle various low-light conditions and provides users with improved control over the depth of field. Its versatile features also allow it to be used with subjects as close as 6.7 inches away. Its built-in optical image stabilization helps minimize the effects of camera shake.

The body is made from a lightweight magnesium alloy that's ideal for harsh environmental conditions. Its BP-SCL4 battery can provide up to 350 shots per charge. Its physical design features a rubber gasket to help reinforce its weather-proof properties.

The interface is simplified, following the example of the M10 and CL-series cameras. It has a single-stage On/Off button, three-button rear control set, and a push-button diopter adjustment.

The mechanical lock feature allows users to sync their photos to their external storage devices up to 1/500 sec. The Lens has a 49mm filter thread diameter for attaching optional filters. It accepts one SD-type memory card and supports UHS II protocol.

Through its built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth LE connectivity, the Q2 can be used to share photos and videos directly to a mobile device. It can also remotely control its camera using a live view image. Its remote functionality can additionally be activated automatically whenever it's within range.
