The SL2 features a 47.3MP full-frame sensor and Maestro III image processor. Its imaging capabilities and design eliminates the need for a low-pass filter to maintain the highest possible resolution. Its continuous shooting rate of up to 20 fps can be achieved with an electronic or mechanical shutter. Its processing capabilities can also handle up to 60 continuous DNG files.

The SL2 is also capable of recording videos in 4K, 5K, and Full HD formats. Its built-in 10-bit color and 10-bit digital image stabilization allows it to capture images with vibrant and realistic colors. Its recording modes for Full HD and Ultra High-Definition 4K60 provide 2x and 6x slower motion respectively.

The addition of a dedicated Hybrid Log Gamma feature allows the camera to capture videos with more detail and flexibility. It can also be used to enhance the details in photos by adding a variety of features such as a dedicated L-Log gamma profile and a photo style mode. Additionally, it can also be used to record videos to an external device via the HDMI Type A port and 3.5mm audio jack. It supports both external microphones and headphones.
