Nikon - Z6 III Mirrorless Camera with 24-120mm Lens Key Features:
24.5MP Partially-Stacked CMOS Sensor
EXPEED 7 Image Processor
6K 60p N-RAW, 6K 30p ProRes RAW
4K 120p, Full HD 240p Slow Motion Video
24.5MP Partially-Stacked CMOS Sensor:
The Z6 III is the first camera from Nikon that features a partially stacked sensor. This design allows for faster scans and accurate readouts, as well as reduced rolling shutter. Its other features also make it easier to use, including faster AF, better EVF experience, and better video recording.
EXPEED 7 Image Processor:
The EXPEED 7 processing engine is found in the top-of the line Z8 and Z9 cameras, and it can shoot at speeds up to 10x faster than the previous generation's Z6II. This combination of features and the partially-stacked sensor makes it possible to achieve impressive AF speeds, high burst shooting rates, fast video performance, and a wide variety of other useful functions. When using the EXPEED 7 processing engine, the Z8 and Z9 cameras can shoot at up to 20 fps in raw and up to 60 fps in full-frame JPEG. They can also shoot at 120 fps in JPEGs with a DX crop and support full AF/AE. The ability to shoot at over 1,000 photos in a burst using the electronic shutter allows you to keep recording images for up to 50 seconds continuously. One of the easiest ways to make certain moments more convenient is by using the Pre-Release Capture feature, which allows you to capture frames in a burst up to a second before the shutter is released. When the feature is activated, shooting will start immediately and the buffer will retain around four seconds worth of images. The electronic shutter is designed to allow you to shoot at a top speed of 1/16,000 seconds in bright conditions. This feature allows you to capture images with wider apertures, and it reduces the rolling effect of the shutter. To keep up with fast shooting, the calculation of AF is carried out at a rate of 120 frames per second.
493-Point Phase-Detection AF:
The Z6 III's EXPEED 7 processor provides the necessary boost to enable Nikon's new phase-detection AF system, which is designed to provide fast and accurate focusing. This system is built on the company's high-speed communication interface and the speed of the sensor, which enables readings up to 120 frames per second. The Z6 III's AF system is also designed to help users shoot in low-light conditions, and it can operate in a mode known as Starlight, which allows it to focus down to -10 EV. Its built-in ISO of 64000 makes it ideal for capturing images in challenging lighting conditions. The Backlit AF feature utilizes separate pixels within the sensor to provide areas with overexposing capabilities without affecting the recorded image. The Z6 III features 3D Tracking AF, which is a standard feature in DSLRs. It pairs with the camera to automatically focus on fast, moving subjects while also keeping track of the movement of objects on the other side of the frame. It also has three dynamic-area AF modes that allow users to capture different types of moving subjects.
Subject Detection with Deep Learning Technology:
The Z6 III is capable of recognizing various subjects, such as humans and animals, using deep learning technology and inherited algorithms from the Z9. When using Auto-Area AF on the Z6 III, it will automatically detect and track the subjects in the frame, ensuring sharp focus whenever the subject moves across the frame. Eye-Detection AF has been refined to improve its accuracy and allow it to recognize eyes in the scene more precisely. This feature can also be used with custom wide-area AF for various subjects.
Portraits:
The Z6 III is a great choice for those who want to enhance their portraits with a variety of processing tools. Its Portrait mode takes care of creating realistic portraits with a rounded feel and natural texture. The Z6 III's rich tone portrait mode is a great choice for creating vibrant portraits that capture the details of the subjects' complexion. It also avoids losing the necessary highlights in the process. The Z6 III's Flat Monochrome mode is also a great choice for creating soft monochrome portraits. It features gentle gradations between the highlights and shadows. The Deep Tone mode offers a choice of slightly darker tones. The brightness increases as the tones move from mid to highlights. One can use skin softening on up to three individuals in a single shot. It can also slightly blur the skin for added texture and keep the eyes and hair sharp. The Z6 III's Auto WB feature has been designed to optimize for human subjects. You can take full advantage of the Z6 III's Portrait mode by using one of the many compatible lenses from the company. Some of these include the 50mm f/2 S, 85mm f/2 S, and 135mm f/1.8 S.
Pixel Shift Technology:
Ultra-high resolution images can be created with the help of pixel shift technology. This process involves shifting the sensor between multiple shots, which makes the photos more detailed. In addition, users can merge the resulting images in the software known as NX Studio. The method minimizes noise, false colors, and moiré. It also offers the best results when utilized with a tripod. In addition, pixel shift photography is beneficial for various applications, such as film digitization and landscape photography.
Internal 6K60 and 4K 120 Recording:
The Z6 III is a capable video camera that's similar to the Z9 in terms of its recording capabilities. It features a variety of frame rates and resolutions. Continuous shooting with 6K60p video is possible with this camera. It can also record 4K and Full HD videos at different frame rates. For slow-motion recording, the device can record at 240p.
N-RAW and ProRes RAW Video:
The ProRES RAW HQ and N-RAW formats support internal 12-bit raw recordings at up to 60 frames per second. This type of recording provides greater color latitude and allows for better dynamic range and flexibility in post-production. The N-RAW is a premium raw recording format from Nikon that packs a small file size and is ideal for efficient previewing and transferring. Both the N-RAW and ProRES RAW formats are available in 6K at 60p and 30p respectively.
ProRes and H.265 10-Bit Recording:
Support for internal recording includes 10-bit color and 4:0 sampling in the ProRes 422 and H.265 codecs.
Nikon's Brightest Viewfinder:
The Z6 III has a powerful sensor-processor combination that allows it to give the most accurate electronic viewfinder in any camera. Its 4000 nits brightness makes it 33% brighter than the Z9, and it can help with low-light shooting even in bright sunlight, making it easier to identify objects. Its 5.70 million dot resolution also helps with autofocus. The Z6 III's EVF has a high-speed mode that can boost its refresh rate to 120 fps, which is ideal for rendering lifelike images. In addition, it's compatible with the new DCI-P3 color gamut, which helps you accurately capture the world's colors.
170° Vari-Angle LCD:
The Z6 III features a 2.1-inch touchscreen LCD that is capable of providing 170 degrees of vari-angle mobility, allowing it to work from both low and high angles regardless of the orientation used. This makes it easier to view photos from different positions, and the user interface will change depending on how the camera can be held.
Body Design:
Two card slots, one CFexpress B and one UHS-II, allow you to store files with ease. The CFx slot is ideal for demanding data-intensive tasks, such as high-speed burst shooting and 6K recording, while the SD slot is compatible with most storage formats. The CFx B also works with XQD memory cards. The Z6 III and the MB-N14 Power Battery Pack can be paired together for enhanced ergonomics when shooting at a vertical angle and up to 1.9x battery life. The Z6 III is a great choice for videographers who want to rig or use a gimbal. Its light and compact design makes it an ideal choice. The Z6 III is constructed with a premium weather seal that's designed to protect against moisture and dust. With the addition of Synchro VR, the image stabilization system of Nikon can now provide up to 8 stops of shake compensation when paired with certain Z lenses.
