Ricoh announces the GR IV, due to hit shelves Fall 2025.
Ricoh - GR III Diary Edition Digital Camera
The Ricoh GR III Diary Edition Digital Camera continues the legacy of being a compact powerhouse, delivering outstanding image quality, rapid response, and exceptional portability.
Ricoh GR III Diary Edition Digital Camera
The Ricoh GR III Diary Edition Digital Camera features a newly redesigned imaging system, boasting a 24.2MP APS-C CMOS sensor and the GR Engine 6 for smooth tonal transitions, vibrant colors, and impressive sensitivity from ISO 100-102400. It can capture high-resolution 14-bit DNG stills or Full HD video. Paired with an 18.3mm f/2.8 prime lens (28mm equivalent), this camera delivers sharp and detailed images. A notable addition to the GR series is the 3-axis Shake Reduction System, which compensates for camera shake, ensuring sharper handheld shots even at slower shutter speeds.
Physically, the GR III retains its compact form but now offers a redesigned control layout for a more comfortable grip and easier access to controls. The 3.0" 1.037m-dot LCD screen provides clear image composition, playback, and menu navigation, with a touchscreen for intuitive operation and Touch AF. Bluetooth LE and Wi-Fi capabilities allow seamless wireless file transfer to your smartphone or tablet, making sharing images effortless.

Diary Edition
The camera body features a textured metallic surface, designed to reflect both the camera's reliability and quality. The textured finish also ensures a secure grip, while the attractive color gives the camera a refined look, making it blend seamlessly into daily life as more than just an imaging tool.
The Negative-Film Image Control Mode adjusts color tones to mimic the retro style of photos printed from negative film, adding a nostalgic touch to your images.
A Power-Off Info Display shows the current firmware version and the total number of shots taken in a single day. Smartphone integration is further enhanced with a power-off function through ImageSync, allowing you to check and transfer images, as well as turn off the camera while it’s still in your bag.
The camera also features a unique shut-down screen, displaying the original emboss-type product logo against a fabric-like textured background, in a color that matches the camera body finish.
24.2MP APS-C CMOS Sensor and GR Engine 6
The updated design of the GR III features a 24.2MP APS-C CMOS sensor paired with the new GR Engine 6, enabling the capture of high-resolution 14-bit DNG or JPEG stills with exceptional tonality, natural color rendering, and impressive sensitivity ranging from ISO 100-102400. Along with full-resolution, wide-angle images, the camera offers two convenient crop modes: 35mm at 15MP and 50mm at 7MP, allowing you to simulate the effect of longer focal lengths.
Beyond stills, the GR III also excels in video recording, capable of capturing Full HD 1080p footage at 60p, 30p, and 24p frame rates.
Prime Wide-Angle Lens
The GR III features a fixed 18.3mm prime lens, offering a 28mm equivalent wide-angle perspective, complemented by a bright f/2.8 maximum aperture, making it ideal for a variety of lighting conditions. The lens design consists of six elements in four groups, including two aspherical elements that minimize spherical aberrations and distortion, enhancing sharpness and providing accurate rendering.
Two focusing modes cater to general subjects, ranging from 3.9" to infinity, while a dedicated macro setting is perfect for close-up work within a 2.4-4.7" range. An internal two-stop effective ND filter (ND 0.6) allows for slower shutter speeds or working with a wider aperture, and the nine-blade diaphragm contributes to smooth, aesthetically pleasing bokeh. Additionally, the redesigned lens offers improved contrast and is 1.5mm thinner than the lenses found in previous GR and GR II digital cameras.
Shake Reduction System
Featured for the first time in a GR camera, a 3-axis Shake Reduction System helps minimize the appearance of camera shake to promote sharper handheld shooting at slower shutter speeds. The Shake Reduction System has been optimized for use with the built-in 28mm-equivalent lens, which renders it smaller and more effective. Additionally, the SR unit offers moiré reduction and dust removal capabilities.
Body Design
- The GR-series is renowned for its compact, pocketable design, offering the advantage of a large image sensor and a bright prime lens despite its small size.

- The rear layout of the camera has been entirely redesigned to provide a larger, more comfortable thumb grip, along with easily accessible physical dials. The ADJ lever, FN button, and Touch AF can be customized for specific functions, allowing for more personalized control.
- Start-up time has been reduced to just 0.8 seconds, and Hybrid AF performance has been improved for faster, smoother operation.
- Bluetooth LE and Wi-Fi connectivity enable wireless pairing with mobile devices, allowing you to embed location information in your files and transfer them to your device, even when the camera is powered off.
- The included DB-110 rechargeable lithium-ion battery provides approximately 200 shots per charge.
- A USB Type-C port allows for both file transfers and in-camera battery recharging.
