24.2MP APS-C CMOS Sensor and GR Engine 6
The 24.2MP APS-C sensor of the new model is paired with the new GR Engine 6 to produce high-quality 14-bit DNG or JPEG stills with exceptional sensitivity and natural color rendering. In addition, it has a high sensitivity from ISO 100-102400. It also comes with two useful crop modes, 35mm at 15MP and 50mm at 7MP, that allow users to simulate working with longer focal lengths. Besides stills shooting, the Ricoh GR III digital compact camera also comes equipped with a built-in 1080p video recording at 60p, 30p, and 24p frame rates.
Prime Wide-Angle Lens
The 18.3mm wide-angle lens is ideal for people who are looking for a versatile and comfortable lens that can handle various shooting conditions. It features a bright f/2.8 maximum aperture and is complemented with a six-element optical construction. These elements help minimize spherical aberrations and improve the rendering accuracy.
The versatile lens comes with two focusing modes that are suitable for different types of stills shooting, such as general subjects and close-up subjects. It can also be used with a dedicated macro setting that allows users to focus on a subject that's within a 2.4-4.7" range. Its internal two-stop ND 0.6 filter can be used to slow down the speed of the lens' continuous shooting.
The new lens design also features a more modern and slimmer body, which measures 1.5mm giving it a greater contrast than the previous GR/GR II digital cameras.
Shake Reduction System
For the first time in a GR camera, the 3-axis Shake Reduction System has been added to the model. It can help promote smooth handheld shooting by reducing the appearance of the camera shake. The built-in 28mm-equivalent lens makes the system even more effective. It can also be used with other accessories such as dust removal and moiré reduction.
Body Design
The compact size of the Ricoh GR III is also one of the main features that sets it apart from other digital cameras. It comes with a large 18.3MP sensor and a bright prime lens. The new model is equipped with a 3.0" LCD with a touch-sensitive design that can help users easily navigate through its various features.
The rear of the camera has also been redesigned to make it easier for users to access its various features. It features a larger thumb grip and a variety of physical buttons. The Touch AF, ADJ lever, and FN button can be programmed to handle certain functions.
The start-up time has also been reduced to 0.8 sec. Its Hybrid AF performance has been improved to provide better performance. Wi-Fi and Bluetooth LE connectivity allow users to connect their devices and share their photos and videos.
It comes with a rechargeable lithium-ion battery that can provide users with up to 200 shots. Its USB Type-C port can be used to transfer files and recharge the battery.
