Ricoh announces the GR IV, due to hit shelves Fall 2025.
Ricoh GR IIIx HDF Digital Camera
The Ricoh GR IIIx HDF Digital Camera integrates a newly developed highlight diffusion filter (HDF), empowering users with enhanced control over their imagery style without compromising on image quality. When HDF is enabled, captures exhibit a distinct softness and highlight emphasis, evoking a nostalgic aesthetic reminiscent of film photography or vintage movies.
Ricoh GR IIIx HDF Digital Camera
The Ricoh GR IIIx HDF Digital Camera Fn button's default setting is now dedicated to toggling HDF on or off. Additionally, this model stands out with its dark silver shutter-release button, distinguishing it from earlier GR series models. Moreover, the latest firmware enables the preprogramming of up to three white-balance settings as the base white balance, alongside introducing Zone Select AF functionality.

High-Resolution GR Lens
The newly designed 26.1mm GR lens offers a 40mm standard angle of view in the 35mm format, providing images with a natural perspective and genuine depth ideal for a distinctive street photography style. Incorporating high-refractive index low-dispersion glass lenses and precision-molded aspherical glass lenses, the lens construction effectively minimizes optical distortion and chromatic aberration, ensuring exceptional sharpness.
Furthermore, the camera features an ND (Neutral Density) filter, reducing the aperture by two stops to capture high-contrast, high-resolution images across various scenes and lighting conditions. Its nine-blade diaphragm mechanism produces a natural bokeh effect and authentic depth perception at wider apertures, while also capturing captivating light patterns at narrower apertures.
24.2MP APS-C CMOS Sensor and GR Engine 6
Featuring an upgraded 24.2MP APS-C CMOS sensor combined with the latest GR Engine 6, the GR IIIx HDF delivers high-resolution 14-bit DNG or JPEG stills with remarkable tonal depth, authentic color reproduction, and wide sensitivity ranging from ISO 100 to 102400. Alongside its exceptional still photography capabilities, the GR IIIx HDF is equipped to record Full HD 1080 video at versatile frame rates of 60p, 30p, and 24p.
Hybrid AF System
The hybrid AF system seamlessly integrates both contrast-type and phase-detection-type mechanisms, ensuring swift and precise focusing performance. During autofocus shooting, this advanced system accurately detects and focuses on the subject's face or eye, clearly indicating the in-focus position on the LCD display through the AF frame. In scenarios with multiple faces, the camera intelligently distinguishes the main subject from secondary ones, providing clear indication within the focus frame.MORE MORE MORE
Shake Reduction System
The Shake Reduction (SR) system effectively reduces camera shake across three axes—yaw, pitch, and roll—delivering up to 4 stops of compensation. This technology ensures sharp, clear images, whether capturing quick snapshots or shooting in difficult low-light environments.
Compact and Lightweight Design
Crafted for utmost compactness, functionality, and portability, the GR IIIx HDF boasts a robust exterior frame constructed from rigid magnesium alloy, enhancing its durability during transport and storage. Equipped with a range of user-friendly attributes, such as a quick start-up time of about 0.8 seconds, conveniently positioned control dials adjacent to the four-way controller, and intuitive touch-screen functionality, the camera elevates operational ease. These features empower users to promptly seize fleeting moments and react swiftly to unique photographic opportunities.
HD LCD Monitor with Touch-Screen Operation
Featuring a 3" high-definition LCD monitor with touch-screen capability, the camera enables seamless, intuitive control over a multitude of functions including AF frame shift, menu selection, and image advance/magnification during playback. Additionally, an outdoor view setting permits instant adjustment of the monitor's brightness to ensure optimal visibility even in challenging lighting environments.
Image Control and Visual Effects
The GR IIIx HDF incorporates a versatile creative image control function that seamlessly integrates effect modes into standard image setting operations. With access to 11 fundamental image control modes, users can effortlessly fine-tune parameters like hue, saturation, key, contrast, and graininess according to their preferences. Moreover, customized parameter sets can be saved and added to the image control function menu for convenient access.
Advanced Image Editing
The GR IIIx HDF offers in-camera RAW editing capabilities, allowing users to adjust various parameters such as recording size, aspect ratio, white balance, and exposure compensation directly without relying on a PC. Furthermore, the camera enables users to preserve these adjustments even after the initial RAW-data development, facilitating fine-tuning of the developed image at a later stage.
Bluetooth and Wi-Fi
The GR IIIx HDF offers seamless wireless connectivity, allowing effortless pairing with smartphones and tablets. By installing the dedicated Image Sync app, users can transfer images to their mobile devices, display live-view images on their device screens, remotely adjust settings, trigger the shutter remotely, and easily share images on social media platforms. Additionally, users can synchronize their mobile device's location data with the camera, which can be embedded into captured images. The camera also features an auto resize function that automatically reduces image size for efficient transmission to mobile devices.
