Recording 4K videos at 30 frames per second using the XAVC S codec is possible. This can be achieved by using the sensor's full width. In addition to 4K recording, oversampling is also possible. This method takes advantage of the Super 35 capture area for better detail. Its full pixel readout does not binning and features reduced moiré and aliasing. The a6400 features customizable gamma and color controls, as well as various other settings. It can be used with the same Sony S-Log2 gamma curve found on high-end cameras. This feature significantly boosts the video signal's dynamic range. For enhanced post-production flexibility, the a6400 can be used with HLG support. It also supports the BT.2020 Color space, which allows you to record in a wide range of colors. In addition, S-Log3 and S-Log2 can be used with enhanced grading controls for a 14-stop dynamic range. Uncompressed HDMI output can be used with 4K recording. An optional external recorder can also be utilized for clean 4K recording. The ability to create time-lapse videos with the help of the Imaging Edge app is a great feature. It allows you to set intervals between 1 and 60 seconds and select up to 9999 frames for continuous recording. With 4K recording, you can create 8MP stills with the help of a frame grab from a movie. You can then store this as a separate file. The a6400 can be used with the Slow & Quick mode, which allows users to shoot at a rate of 1-120 frames per second. It enables users to slow down the action and speed up the scene.

The 4D FOCUS system features a robust array of on-chip phase detection points and 425 contrast-detection points, which can be used for precise focusing in just 0.02 seconds. Its density of focusing points enables High-density tracking AF, which can precisely track moving subjects in varying lighting conditions. With Real-time Eye Focus, you can accurately focus on the eyes of your subjects in portraits. It can be used in both AF-C and AF-S modes. With Eye Focus, you can also take advantage of capturing animal subjects in any focusing mode. In Lock-on mode, you can maintain focus on moving subjects while setting the frame over them.
