The Tamron 1.4X SP AF Pro is a teleconverter that can be used with certain Nikon cameras, such as the AF-I, AF-D, and AF-S. It features an improved optical design and is ideal for shooting with lenses that are capable of taking photos at f/2.8 or greater. A 1.4x teleconverter is a type of tool that can increase the focal length of a standard lens by 1.4x. It can also cut down on the amount of light that's reflected by the lens by one f/stop. For instance, by using a 300mm lens with a 1.4x teleconverter, the focal length of the lens can be increased to 420mm. Although the SP AF Pro can be used with various types of cameras, it is not recommended for lenses that are wider than 90mm. Full AF can only be achieved with cameras with an open aperture of f/2.8. To ensure that the sensor is activated properly, the light must be sufficient on the subject. When using a lens with an open f-stop value less than that indicated, manual focusing is recommended. Although the image quality of photos with a small maximum aperture is usually the same with a Tamron teleconverter, when using a lens that's wider than 90mm, the SP can compromise it.
